Bill Wyman designed our ambigram logo.
Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones created the NEWMAN Guitars logo by inverting the E and A during the 1978 Stones US Tour promoting Some Girls. Since then, George Gruhn has told me that it is still the only ambigram logo he knows of in the music instrument business. So, what is an ambigram? An ambigram is a word that is spelled the same backwards, forwards, upside down and right side up. No matter what vantage you look at it, it always spells NEWMAN. This whimsical logo adds to the legend and legacy of our brand. When we consider how far we’ve come, it amazing to think that we started so right with the advice and partnership of rock royalty. $20,000 seed money from Keith Richards and logo creation from Bill Wyman just seems surreal but it is our history and forever a part of our brand legacy. We’re rolling so keep rocking!
